About the Author/Illustrator:

      Sara Bell Welles was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, but moved to Florida when she was four-years-old. At the tender age of eight, Ms. Welles started her drawing career.  One of her creations was a comic strip named, Christine who was published in her high-school and college newspapers. When Ms. Welles’ college asked for a more mature comic strip, she created one called, S.I.P. Between the ages of eleven and twenty, Ms. Welles wrote several Y.A. books: House of Hell, Mary, Aranha Historia: A Spider Story, and  Star Ship Estrella (not published).

           For more than thirty years, Sara Bell Welles has been an early childhood educator. It was during that time, Ms. Welles created songs, stories, and illustrations to go along with her lesson plan. Now, Sara Bell follows her true passion, creating books for young, children. Ms. Welles lives in Florida with her two dogs, Benji and Jasper and her cat, Shelly. Her friends know her as “the accessories lady,” because she likes to put unique and different items in her hair.

                   Sara Bell’s Background:

       Sara Bell Welles’ educational background includes: Douglas Anderson’s School of the Arts, The Westside Skill’s Center, Florida State Collage of Jacksonville, and Ashford University. While pursuing her master’s in Education, Ms. Welles studied: drawing 1 & 2, water color painting, commercial art, computer graphics, sculpting, and art history. She has entered several of her art pieces into her college’s art gallery and has won Honorable Mention twice. Ms. Welles has volunteered to paint several murals for her local schools.

          Ms. Bell has won Best Customer Service as an early childhood educator. It was while she was teaching that Sara Bell Welles discovered her true talent, writing and illustrating books for children. Currently, Sara Bell Welles uses all her time and talents to self-publish her own books, as well as; submit her stories to agents, editors, and publishers. Ms. Welles is also an artist of water color paintings, fine art, cartoons and comic strips, freelance writing, and photography. Ms. Welles has self-published the following titles online: Ernie the Wormy, A Picnic, A Picnic: What a Wonderful Surprise, Umbrella: I Need You,  Oh, Mrs. Cow, and Laddie Leprechaun.
